One evening, over a
few beers, a couple of guys imagined their perfect “guy” store.
Such a place would be stocked with the merchandise of a modern-day men's toy
store, filled with watches, pocket knives, outdoor gear and humidors.
The result of their fantasy was a store that became a local legend – a
store called Cigars & Fire Trucks.
Six years later…..
The boys get a little older. They spend more time outdoors, fishing and
enjoying nature, so the store now carries fishing rods and outdoors gear. The
joy of cooking calls out to them and the result is shelves lined with gourmet
hot sauce and barbecue rubs (and bacon….and chocolate!). The itch for change strikes
- they need a new name! New products! More stuff! And so, the boys decide to
change the name of the store to…..The Mercury
Trading Company.
Why? No one knows. The name just struck a chord. Perhaps it’s
the mercurial nature of the place.
